ARTEL Larsen App Reviews & Giveaways!!

The generous folks over at Artel Larson provided me codes to four of their apps to review for you and to giveaway!  For each of the four apps, I have 3 codes to giveaway!!  Keep reading to see what you can win!!

Word Stress:
Are you working on memory or reading skills?  This app is for you!  This app provides the visual of a word and then removes it.  It represents the word with a sound missing and students must select the missing letter.  Why "stress?"  You can select the speed and difficulty!
Under the "1" that chooses how many words from the list are going to be included.  The larger the number, the more difficult.  By clicking the "book" on the top you can see the words ahead of time.  You can review the vocabulary and practice using the words in sentences.

By clicking the "people" you can see the rationale for using the app.
By clicking the "?" you can see the different setting choices.
Like I said  earlier, students are shown the word and in a specific time must remember the missing letter.  Scores are kept on a score board and saved.

To learn more about this app, visit iTunes here!  For only $.99 this app is fun, exciting, and motivating.  There are tons of ways to use in speech therapy!

Phrase Stress:
This app is similar to Word Stress but uses idioms!!  Students must remember the idioms to complete selected tasks in a specific time.

Like the other app, by clicking the buttons on the top, you can see the idioms list and learn more about the settings.

You can choose the type of problem to solve: "see an idiom, pick the right explanation" "See an explanation, pick the right idiom" or "mixed problems, pick idiom explanation or word."  Again this game uses time as a stressor.  You can make it easier by selecting the appropriate stress level.

Again this app keeps score and will save it!  Learn more about this $.99 app at iTunes here!

WordBalloons:
Want a way to make defining vocabulary or reading fun and motivating? How about popping balloons while matching words!
Like the other apps from this developer, you can select the amount of words presented and number of balloons at a time (distractors).  How would I use this in speech therapy?  Students can distinguish if the words have their target speech sounds.  They could also use the words in sentence or define before matching and popping the balloon.

The game keeps a score and saves it!

$-Fun App:
Want to practice money skills?  How about learning about the different forms of money?  Want to recommend apps for teachers and parents to use at home to practice the life skill of money?  Here ya go!
What are the different settings?  You can see by clicking the "people" on the home page.
There are three different games. "Save" which you must put as much money in the piggy bank as fast as possible.  Can they follow the direction?  Can they label the money before they put it in the bank?  Can they understand the concept "in" and "out."
"Count": Can your students count the money presented and type it in fast in the key pad.
"Pay": Students are shown an item and a price.  They are given a wallet.  They must count out the dollars and cents to pay for the item.  They click "check" when they think they have it.  This is great for students working on vocational training and life skills!!
You can elicit a conversation, would you buy a battery for that price?  You can bring in catelogues and coupons to compare/contrast prices in the game to the stores in your community.  To learn more about this $2.99 app, visit iTunes.
